Dear Friends,
June was a busy month, but was certainly a good month in the life of the church. We had Family Fun Night at the Albion Borough Park on the Friday evening after school let out for the summer with over 500 attendees! Our church spearheaded this event with Pastor Tonya Hockenberry being in charge and involving other community churches. The next week we had Vacation Bible School in the Park with around 40 children hearing the Gospel message while they had a fun time. Thank you to Rachel Sadler and her large crew of volunteers who made VBS a success! We sent 12 children and several counselors to Kids’ Camp and 2 teens to Teen Camp at Mt. Chestnut. Thank you for all that you do to support our children and teens! We had a full delegation attend Team Days (Convention for Missions, Youth, and Sunday School) with our 2 associate pastors, Connie and Tonya, leading seminars at this district event! By the time you receive this letter we will have attended our District Assembly where on Friday evening Pastor Tonya received her first District Minister’s License and I was recognized for my upcoming retirement. Congratulation to Pastor Tonya for achieving this significant milestone on her ministerial journey. She has been recommended by your Church Board, has completed more than enough classes to be eligible, has gone through Ministerial Assessment, and has been approved by the Pittsburgh District Credentials Board. Way to go, Tonya! Last month I shared several prayer requests with you related to the upcoming pastoral transition and this month I am asking you to join with me in prayer for your Church Board. You have elected them and they will have the responsibility to work with our District Superintendent, Rev. Dan Eddings, in evaluating what you will be looking for in your next pastor, looking at candidate resumes, interviewing potential pastors, and making a recommendation to the church members for a vote for that pastor. This is in addition to their regular responsibilities of leading our congregation. I am listing them here so that you can pray for them by name. 1.Mike Crosscut 2.Gayle Gollmer 3.Randy Hites—Church Board Secretary 4.Tonya Hockenberry—Sunday School Superintendent 5.Judy Hyde—Mission President 6.Beth Ann Kean 7.Rachel Sadler—Youth President 8.Mike Sass 9.Bernie Smith 10.Ruth Steinheiser—Recording Secretary 11.Dana Young Also, be praying about a list of people (your friends and family) who you can invite to Back to Church Sunday on September 15th. The theme this year is “Together” and will focus on encouraging people to go back to church to experience doing life together with other people of faith and who are searching for faith and meaning in their lives. Our annual baptism service will be on August 25th. We will gather for Sunday School classes and Worship Service at Raccoon Park. The service will conclude with baptisms in Lake Erie. We rent the pavilion where we will have the service and where we will join together for a picnic following the service. I already have several individuals who want to proclaim their faith in Christ through their baptism. I would love to add you to the list. In Christ’s Love, Pastor Wayne
